A feast of colours and fragrant flavours are just some of the ingredients for an unforgettable night at Bijolias Fine Indian Cuisine in Seaforth.

The gastronomic adventure starts when you step inside and smell the spices that characterise head chef Virender Pal Singh’s dishes. There we were greeted by the welcoming smile of Virender’s wife, Anibha.

She runs the front of the house of her family-owned and operated restaurant and makes sure her guests are treated like family.

With patience and dedication she took us through their varied and uniquely crafted menu, designed to seduce your tastebuds with her homeland’s flavours, culture and traditions. They also prepare each plate with the amount of spice you desire, a perfect solution for people like me with a lower tolerance to hot food.

We started with Onion Bhaji, an entrée of finely sliced onion smothered in spiced batter and fried to crispy perfection. The amount of spice was just right.

As per Anisha’s recommendations we welcomed the mains, Kadai Macchi fish and the Nariyal Beef. Both were accompanied by a light and slightly crispy garlic naan bread and basmati rice.

The Kadai Macchi fish, cooked with a blend of tomato, coriander, ginger and fenugreek, was soft and delicate, and the Nariyal Beef surprised us with its delicate texture. The fish plate and their south Indian beef specialty, served in coconut sauce, flavoured with curry leaves and mustard, displayed all the talent of chef Virender. He made all the ingredients blend perfectly, while maintaining their distinct flavours.

We couldn’t leave without trying dessert and the Gulab Jamun, a traditional sweet dumpling with ice cream and sugar syrup, was the perfect way to finish the night. We left feeling satisfied having enjoyed homemade food and a warm atmosphere. We look forward to returning for another gourmet adventure.
