Collaroy Tennis Club and Evolve Tennis Academy are co-hosting a major community event from 12pm on Sunday 25 October, as part of Tennis Australia’s All Abilities Week.

All Abilities Week aims to raise the profile, awareness and opportunities for more than five million Australians living with disability. Collaroy and Evolve are committed to embracing diversity by making tennis welcoming, safe and inclusive for all.

The day will feature exhibition matches across Wheelchair and Para-Standing Tennis, as well as players who are blind or have low vision, an intellectual disability and autism. The hosts are also encouraging any member of the community living with a disability to head to Collaroy and try tennis.

You can join in the fun and have a hit with the world’s number one female blind & low vision player, Grace Hobbs and current ITF world-ranked wheelchair tennis player Hayley Slocombe.

The event is free and open to everyone, with or without a disability, and activities will include a classic Bunnings barbeque, live music, organised social tennis, a special performance from 16-year-old Australian Idol sensation, Taiyo Marchand and the likely appearance of a high-profile celebrity. Several local dignitaries have also been invited to attend.

The club’s inclusion officer, Dave Keogh, summed up the event.

“Our second annual All Abilities Week event is further evidence that Collaroy Tennis Club and Evolve Tennis Academy are committed to providing a friendly, fun and above all inclusive place, in which to play our beautiful sport,” Dave said. “We welcome our local community to come along and have a hit, mixing in with players of all abilities.”
