A Northern Beaches Little League baseball team has been crowned national champions after an outstanding performance at the 2026 Little League National Invitational Tournament in Redcliffe, Queensland.

Representing NSW as the state’s only team at the tournament, the Manly Little League Major team battled through a competitive field before claiming the gold medal with a hard-fought grand final victory against the Adelaide Marlins.

Among those celebrating was coach Geoffrey Macpherson, who has been involved with Manly Little League since he first played for the club as a six-year-old.

“It’s an incredible achievement for this group of kids,” Mr Macpherson said.

“They’ve worked so hard to get to this point and represented Manly and NSW with pride. To come home as national champions is something they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.”

The team’s journey was supported by a $5,000 Electrical Trades Union Community Grant, which helped families cover the costs of travel, accommodation, uniforms and equipment, ensuring every selected player could attend.

“Supporting this team is about giving local kids the opportunity to chase their dreams,” Mr Macpherson said.
