Following a consultation period, Northern Beaches Council has adopted the Early Learning Strategy 2026-2035. The strategy will support council’s operation of early learning services with the objective of ensuring accessible, inclusive and high-quality early learning on the Northern Beaches.
The strategy is focused on four key outcomes: integrated services, accessible services, workforce planning and the voices of children. Core elements involve ensuring that early learning services are flexible, affordable and meet community needs, all while supporting a stable and skilled workforce committed to quality education and care.
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said strong early learning helps build strong communities.
“Our Council-run early learning services have supported local families for many years with experienced and trusted educators through play-based care,” Mayor Heins said.
“This Strategy gives us a practical roadmap to keep improving those services, so they continue to meet the needs of children and families as our community grows and changes.
“Importantly, we also recognise the voices of children and the value of listening to their perspectives, ideas and experiences when we are planning services that support their wellbeing and learning.”
Council currently operates seven long day care centres, three community preschools and a family day care service.
