Applications for the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program are open. The NSW Government has allocated up to $500,000 in support of this year’s iteration of the program which aims to support local sporting clubs to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) package. The grant program is specifically for sport and recreational clubs located in or servicing the most disadvantaged areas of NSW.
Eligible applicants will be able to access up to a $3,000 grant to fund the cost on an AED package. A full list of eligible criteria is available online.
Member for Manly James Griffin has encouraged those eligible to apply for a grant to install a defibrillator, emphasising the importance of having one on site at sporting games.
“A defibrillator can be the difference between life and death because medical experts tell us that the first eight minutes following cardiac arrest are critical to saving a life,” Mr Griffin said.
“A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time, which is why I am keen to see as many defibrillators in the hands of local clubs as possible.”
