This week’s local police wrap-up involves a bag of drugs being dropped on the floor of Frenchs Forest Police Station, an arrest for drug and property offences, and police are keeping a lookout for a Warringah Mall costume thief.
Bag of drugs dropped on Frenchs Forrest Police Station floor
At 3:30pm on 28 October, a man entered the foyer of Frenchs Forest Police Station, where a clear resealable bag fell out of his pocket onto the floor. The bag contained a white substance.
At the time, station staff were assisting another member of the public and were away from the front counter. Police have been informed that while inside the foyer, the male removed his wallet from his pocket which caused the bag to fall out.
The man allegedly became aware that the bag had fallen from his possession and immediately left the police station, running out the front door and leaving the bag behind.
The substance has been seized by police and inquiries are continuing to identify the male.
Arrest and a charge for drug and property offences
On 24 October, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were conducting patrols of Manly. They spotted a man walking down Osborne Road who was allegedly looking into cars and trying to open door handles.
Police stopped the man and conducted checks which indicated he was breaching bail conditions. Police found property belonging to another person and are alleging it was unlawfully obtained. They also allegedly found various resealable bags containing a white crystallised substance. Preliminary testing of the drugs indicated it was Methylamphetamine.
The 43-year-old man, who is from Lane Cove, proceeded to resist police and attempted to flee. He was taken to Manly Police Station and issued with a court attendance notice for the offences of Goods in Custody, Possess Prohibited Drug, Resist/Hinder Police and for Breaching his bail conditions.
Costumes stolen from Warringah Mall
At 2:50pm on 23 October, two males entered a retail store within Warringah Mall and were observed looking at dress-up costumes. One of the males allegedly hid several costumes under his shirt before speaking with the second male. The male subsequently returned the items to the rack, possibly after becoming aware of the presence of other customers, and both left the store.
At 3:37pm, the same male returned to the store and went directly to the area where the costumes were displayed. The male allegedly selected a number of costumes and ran from the store without paying for them.
Police have reviewed CCTV footage from within the store and inquiries are continuing to identify the male involved. Investigations are ongoing.
