A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a police chase surrounding multiple alleged vehicle thefts and a siege on the Northern Beaches on Tuesday.
Earlier that day, police had been informed of the alleged theft of two BMW cars from a home on Reynolds Crescent in Beacon Hill, commencing an investigation around 2:30pm.
One of the stolen vehicles was found abandoned at a hardware store in Frenchs Forest. The second stolen BMW then left the scene, with the driver allegedly failing to stop for police. The pursuit was initiated but was shortly terminated due to safety concerns.
As the car drove through Beaches suburbs, it allegedly hit several parked cars and drove over median strips and footpaths before being abandoned on Ellis Road in Beacon Hill. The driver then allegedly fled the scene in yet another stolen vehicle that was parked nearby.
A second pursuit was initiated after the driver allegedly failed to stop, but was once again terminated due to safety concerns.
The driver then abandoned the third car after mounting an embankment on Roosevelt Street, Allambie Heights, before engaging in a foot pursuit with police and climbing onto the roof of a Kirra Road home, where he allegedly threatened officers.
A group of police officers from Northern Beaches and North Shore Area Commands responded at the scene alongside Highway and Traffic Patrol Command, Public Order and Riot Squad and Tactical Operations Group, establishing a perimeter around the home.
The man was arrested at around 6:20pm. Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or nsw.crimestoppers.com.au
