Three teenage girls have been arrested and charged over the alleged assault and robbery of another teenage girl in Manly.
Police will allege that on Saturday 11 July, the victim was at Shelley Beach and confronted by the alleged offenders. Two of the teenagers were 16 years old and the other an 18 year old woman. They followed the victim to Sydney Road in Manly before attacking her and demanding her handbag.
Following assistance from members of the public, the alleged attack was intervened and police were notified. NSW Ambulance treated the victim for her injuries including scratches, swelling and bleeding to her face.
The victim did not know the attackers and police allege the proceeds of the offence include a small sum of the victim’s cash.
All three alleged offenders were taken to Manly Police Station where they declined to be interviewed. They were refused bail by police and appeared before courts over several days. They were all granted conditional bail and will appear in Manly Local Court and Surry Hills Children’s Court.
The 18 year old was charged with aggravated robbery under Section 95(1) of the Crimes Act NSW and assault occasioning actual bodily harm under Section 59(1).
One of the 16 year olds was charged with aggravated robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault under Section 61 of the Crimes Act.
The other 16 year old was charged with aggravated robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
