Mosman Council voted at its meeting on 6 October to support business-led initiatives that would support the Mosman local economy and will be developing a Business Activation Partnership and Sponsorship Framework.
The framework will aim to support business-led or industry collective initiatives that contribute to economic development, destination marketing, place activation and business sustainability.
It will support eligible business-led initiatives delivering economic and community benefits potentially through financial and in-kind assistance. The goal is to support initiatives that bring vibrancy to our village centres and enhance Mosman’s overall business activity, particularly where businesses work together to achieve shared outcomes.
Council also voted to look into shopfront activation and investigate how vacant shopfronts can be temporarily activated supporting active street frontages, attracting business participation and considering options for art, community use and creative pop-ups.
Working with retail business owners and real estate agents, council will explore what options are viable and worth pursuing. Council will be looking to successful examples at other councils for how this might occur.
