Bus passengers travelling on the Northern Beaches and the lower North Shore are encouraged to plan ahead, with industrial action expected from 12.01am Monday 6 July until 11.59pm Friday 10 July.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has stated that drivers on the Beaches will refuse to drive any bus displaying a dashboard warning light. This comes after opal card readers had been turned off on some buses from 18 June. Both movements by the RTBU form part of strike actions against private bus company Koelis, which operates bus services on the Beaches and lower North Shore. The RTBU is campaigning for fairer wages and safer conditions for workers.
Transport for NSW has stated that while buses are expected to continue operating, this industrial action may result in some services being delayed or cancelled.
Passengers may experience longer wait times, service changes and crowding at major interchanges and busy locations.
Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead, check transportnsw.info for the latest updates and download the Opal Travel app for real-time disruption information.
Transport for NSW have said they will continue to work closely with Keolis Northern Beaches to minimise impacts where possible and keep passengers informed.
