The North Sydney Olympic Pool redevelopment is entering its final stages, with testing, commissioning and defect rectification now underway as the facility is prepared for handover to North Sydney Council.
The 50 metre outdoor pool will be maintained at a comfortable 26 to 28 degrees Celsius year-round, and it suits a range of users and programs, from competitive squads and school carnivals to everyday lap swimming. The depth range is designed for both structured programs and casual swimmers, meaning the pool works just as well for a Saturday morning fitness session as it does for a serious training block.
A movable split boom allows the pool to be divided so that multiple programs, bookings and public access can run at the same time. A timing system and scoreboard ensures the facility is ready for competitions, and lane allocations and bookings will be carefully planned behind the scenes to keep community access front and centre.
At the eastern end of the outdoor pool, families and younger swimmers will find something entirely new. A children’s leisure pool and splash pad, heated to around 28 degrees Celsius, features shallow depths, a submerged ramp and a zero-depth splash area with interactive water features.
Inside the building, fit out works are progressing, with gym equipment and furniture installation underway. The gelato bar joinery is complete, signage is in place and final defect rectification continues across the site.
The revitalised pool facilities will offer something for the whole community. For the latest updates, see the North Sydney Council website.
