According to organisers, the 2025 Balmoral Swim, held over the weekend, was a massive success, raising over $200,000.
Held on 6 April, hundreds showed up at Balmoral Beach to swim and spectate. The event was created to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute, which funds research and treatment into childhood cancer.
Speaking to North Shore Living, a spokesperson for the event stated “It was a fantastic turnout, the weather held up beautifully, and the energy on the beach was incredible. The swimmers were in great spirits, and everything ran smoothly thanks to our amazing volunteers, sponsors and supporters.”
Though the event is primarily about raising money, the swimmers’ competitive sides still shone through. In the 1km swim, Harry Black, for the men and Sienna McDonald, for the women, took first place. Thorsten Trupke and Christina Thomas secured the top spots in the 2.5km, and Damon Pal and Tara Wallis won the 5 km. In the team challenge relay, the HMAS Penguin Navy Divers proved too much for their opposition, claiming the top position.
Event organisers also thanked everyone involved, stating, “We’ll see you at the beach again in 2026!”
