The band Vertigo has been crowed winner of Northern Composure, an annual band competition on the Northern Beaches.
Held at Northern Beaches PCYC on Saturday 1 August, five finalist bands competed in the final, following heats over the last couple of months. Up against Four Leaf Clover, Lemonjam, Lorelei and Trepan, Vertigo’s ‘amazing’ performance stood out to the judges.
The band’s musicianship, natural talent and engagement with the audience as they performed a mix of covers and original songs got them the top spot.
Northern Composure has had now well-known artists compete including Ocean Alley, Lime Cordiale and The Rions. The competition offers 12 – 24-year-olds the chance to perform live on stage, with a large prize pool and industry opportunities up for grabs.
Produced by Northern Beaches Council, Mayor Sue Heins said Northern Composure showcases the musical talent on the Beaches.
“Council is proud to support emerging local artists and provide opportunities for young musicians to develop their skills, perform in front of live audiences and take the next step in their musical journey,” Mayor Heins said.
“Congratulations to Vertigo and the finalists for sharing their creativity, energy and passion with our community.”
