Member for Manly James Griffin MP is encouraging everyone in the community to get behind Royal Far West’s inaugural Spin Off Challenge taking place this Thursday, 6 November on the Manly beachfront.

The event celebrates 100 years of Royal Far West supporting country kids and aims to raise vital funds for children in rural and remote Australia who need access to specialist developmental and mental health services.

From 10am to 3pm, local businesses and community members will take part in the challenge to ride 100 kilometres on stationary bikes in a single day – symbolising a century of Royal Far West’s commitment to improving the lives of children in rural and remote areas.

James Griffin MP will be joining the event at 11am to jump on a bike and pedal it out in support of the cause.

“For 100 years, Royal Far West has been delivering world-class developmental, mental health and disability support services for country kids, right here in the heart of Manly,” Mr Griffin said.

“Since their inception, they have grown from a small local initiative into a national leader in child development and mental health care, and we’re incredibly proud to have them as part of our community.

“The Spin Off Challenge is a fun and meaningful way for local businesses and residents to come together and show support for country families who often face huge barriers when it comes to accessing healthcare.”

Royal Far West supports thousands of children each year who would otherwise go without the services they need. Statistics show that children in rural and remote areas are twice as likely to start school developmentally vulnerable compared to children in metropolitan areas, making events like this one all the more important.

“I encourage everyone to come down to the beachfront, get behind the riders, and help raise funds for an organisation that’s been changing lives for a century,” Mr Griffin said.

“And if you want a bit of extra entertainment, come and watch your local MP get a sweat on for a great cause!”

The Spin Off Challenge will run from 10am to 3pm on Thursday, 6 November, with registration opening at 9:30am. Funds raised will go directly toward expanding Royal Far West’s reach and impact across Australia.
