Beach2Beach is back with a jam-packed day of races and activities
The Beach2Beach Running Festival will return on 23 August for its 32nd year, bringing a range of events for all ages and abilities. The event, which was once known as the Pub2Pub, is organised by the Rotary Club of Warringah and raises funds for charities based on the Northern Beaches.
With races spanning between Dee Why and Newport Beach, there’s different distances to suit a variety of participants. For the avid long-distance runners, the event sees a return of the Mounties Group Half Marathon, which was successfully introduced last year. Whether you want to walk or run, the distances of the other races are 3km, 6km and 14km, starting at various points along the route to Newport Beach.
Convenor of Beach2Beach and president of the Rotary Club of Warringah David Lewis says it’s a great event for the community. “The added benefit is that we get to donate a lot of money to worthy causes,” he says.
While charities can have teams competing on the day, this isn’t necessary to receive funding. “We’re helping to support organisations up and down the Northern Beaches that are also serving the community,” says David. “One hundred per cent of funds raised go to worthwhile organisations and charities. Not one dollar is spent on maintaining Rotary Club of Warringah.”
If last year’s record breaking 6,500 participants is anything to go by, this year’s event is shaping up to be a big one. More participants means more funding going towards charities like Sunnyfield Disability Services.
Sunnyfield have been part of the Beach2Beach community since the Pub2Pub days and have raised a total of $56,000 from the event in the last three years. Mish Miller, events and community impact manager, says Sunnyfield’s participation in Beach2Beach reflects their commitment to building an inclusive community where people of all abilities can participate, connect, and thrive.
Last year Sunnyfield had 100 participants from their crew, and they won second prize for the Largest Charity Fundraising/Participant Team in 2024 and 2025.
“The event gives people with disability the opportunity to get active, challenge themselves, and be part of a large community fun run, with the rewarding experience of crossing the finish line and receiving a well-earned medal,” Mish says.
All donations received by Sunnyfield go towards funding Active August, which helps people with disability build skills and confidence through new experiences such as surfing, dance and skateboarding.
There’s a Finish Festival at Newport Beach, where everyone is welcome, with activities and entertainment including live music, food and drink stalls, and award presentations.
Beach2Beach entry costs are $15 to $95 until 7 August; and $25 to $105 from 8 August.
