Australia’s highest-valued art prize for women – the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize – is now accepting entries for the 2027 Prize, offering a total of $58,000 in prize money. Since launching in 2017, the Prize has become a major event on the national arts calendar, proudly supporting and celebrating the creative talents of Australian women from across the country.
The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize has attracted more than 14,750 entries since that first year. Emerging and Indigenous artists have made up more than 60% of all entries, highlighting the Prize’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and opportunity for under-represented artists.
Open to women artists aged 18 years and over who reside in Australia (or have resided in Australia for 12 months preceding the closing date for entries), the Prize accepts all artistic mediums in three prize categories. The categories are Professional Artist Prize ($35,000), Emerging Artist Prize ($7,500) and Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize ($7,500).
Additional awards include the People’s Choice Award of $2,000 and a Derivan art pack valued at $500 and there are six Highly Commended Awards (two for each category) of $1,000 each.
Entries close on 10 February 2027, and finalists will be announced on 31 March 2027. Opening Night will be held at Ravenswood School for Girls on 14 May 2027. The Exhibition of Finalists is free for the community to view either virtually via ravenswoodartprize.com.au or in person at Ravenswood School for Girls in Gordon on Thursdays to Sundays between 10am and 4pm from 15 to 30 May.
The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize was established to recognise, connect and promote the outstanding achievements of women artists in Australia. Through the generous support of partners and the community, it continues to champion equality and excellence in the visual arts.
