Northern Beaches police area command has proposed that Northern Beaches council declare temporary 24-hour alcohol prohibited areas for upcoming events.
At the next council meeting, police will ask council to consider prohibiting alcohol at Rowland Reserve, Bayview on New Year’s Eve as well any sand area of all beaches, parks and reserves within the Northern Beaches local government area on 26 January 2023.
In recent years, it is understood council has, at the request of the Northern Beaches police area command, declared temporary 24-hour alcohol prohibited areas on Australia Day on beaches and reserves.
Police say this joint initiative assists with managing the potential for alcohol related antisocial behaviour in these areas.
