Close to 10,000 free tickets are up for grabs in a ballot for a chance to watch the New Year’s Eve Fireworks from the Cahill Expressway this year.
The ballot for free tickets is now open until 11.59pm on Friday 2 October.
Entrants can put their name in the running to attend the 9pm or midnight session – each hosting approximately 4900 attendees with a dedicated accessible viewing area for up to 400 people.
Live music, roaming entertainment and food trucks will be available throughout the night to end the year on a high note.
Both sessions are family-friendly, alcohol and smoke-free.
New Year’s Eve on the Cahill Expressway is a Sunflower-friendly event. Staff are able to provide extra help to attendees with hidden disabilities wearing their lanyards.
If successful – each ballot winner will receive up to five free tickets to one of the most sought-out New Year’s Eve vantage points in town.
Transport for NSW secretary Josh Murray said it was an ‘amazing opportunity…to bid farewell to the year in style.’
“Once a year the Cahill Expressway goes from busy road to ‘theatre balcony’ – the prime position to watch the world’s best New Year’s Eve fireworks light up Sydney’s night sky,” said Mr Murray.
‘‘With pre-fireworks entertainment, food trucks and the spectacular viewing deck nestled between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, it’ll be a night to remember for 10,000 lucky ticketholders,” he said.

Successful applicants will be informed by email between Monday 12 October and Friday 4 December.
