South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club has officially celebrated the completion of its significant clubhouse refurbishment, marking an exciting new chapter in the Club’s proud 103-year history.
The refurbished facilities and newly transformed Ocean View Room were officially launched during the club’s 103rd Annual General Meeting on 1 August, attended by members, volunteers, community leaders and special guests including Pittwater MP Jacqui Scruby, Northern Beaches Council Mayor Sue Heins, and Tracey Hare-Boyd, CEO of Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches.
The project represents a $270,000 investment into one of the Northern Beaches’ most iconic community organisations, including a significant $200,000 grant from the NSW Office of Sport. This investment ensures South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club can continue to provide first-class facilities for members, volunteers and the wider community, while supporting the club’s vital surf lifesaving and community activities for generations to come.
Club president Peta Issac said the refurbishment reflects the club’s commitment to both its lifesaving mission and its important role as a community hub. “Our volunteer lifesavers have been looking after South Narrabeen Beach for more than 100 years. This project wasn’t just about improving a building. It was about strengthening the club for the future,” Peta says. “The upgraded café and function space create more opportunities for our members and the wider community to come together, while also generating the income that funds our volunteer lifesaving service. Every booking, every event, and every visit helps support the work our volunteers do to keep South Narrabeen Beach safe.”
The upgraded clubhouse has been thoughtfully designed to improve functionality, accessibility and comfort.
The newly refurbished Ocean View Room is available for hire, and has the capacity for 100 guests.
