Enjoy free family fun and entertainment
Six days, six different events, and not a ticket in sight! Festival of Mosman: Encore proves that some of the best things in life really are free.
From a seasonal-themed night market to festivities for families and cutting-edge art experiences, there’s something for everyone at the festival which runs from 22 to 27 October.
Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber says the Encore experience is set to bring the community together for a mega long weekend of activities.
“Across six exciting days, residents and visitors can experience incredible local talent, vibrant cultural experiences and memorable family friendly events,” Mayor Kimber says.
“It’s an opportunity to come together and celebrate the strong community connections that define Mosman.”
The festivities begin with the SpringFeast Night Market on Thursday 22 October from 4.30pm to 9pm, transforming The Crescent, Village Green and Mosman Square into a twilight marketplace filled with great food, quality wines, artisan finds and live music.
Adding to the atmosphere will be pop singer Gia Darcy, who is eager to be part of the celebration.
“I’m really looking forward to bringing some great energy and entertainment to the night. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community and be part of an event that brings people together,” Gia says.
“There’s something incredibly rewarding about performing for local audiences and helping create lasting memories for families and friends.”
The excitement continues on Friday 23 October when Middle Head Road at Mosman Junction transforms for a street party from 5pm to 8.30pm. The stage will light up, with crowd favourites The Pragmatics headlining an evening of music, food and entertainment.
On Saturday 24 October from 1pm to 8.30pm, the street party expands into an all-day celebration showcasing the remarkable talent of local schools and dance groups. Two stages will feature a packed lineup of performances, including Slick Iguana, the energetic Hot Potato Band and the popular Queen Bee DJ Collective.
Street Party and SpringFeast Night Market are funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program in association with Mosman Council.
Sunday 25 October takes a cultural turn with Songs & Stories at Headland Park from 11am to 3pm. The event invites visitors to participate in a giant puppet performance of the River and Fire Spirits, sandpainting with First Nations artist Walangari and explore artist studios and guided bushwalks.
Experimental art lovers can look forward to Art Unleashed at Mosman Art Gallery on Monday 26 October from 6pm to 9pm, when the gallery will be transformed with live bands, interactive art experiences and an immersive theatre performance.
The festivities conclude with a magical morning for the youngest members of the community at the Children’s Fair on Tuesday 27 October from 10am to 12pm at Village Green.
Mosman Prepartory School is back this year as an Encore sponsor. Headmaster Peter Grimes was proud to continue its long-standing support.
“We are deeply committed to bringing our community together, and partnering with Mosman Council on this wonderful event (which) allows us to foster strong, vibrant connections, while supporting the growth and development of children in the area,” Mr Grimes said.
“The Festival of Mosman is a fantastic celebration of the spirit that makes our local area so special.”
