On 4 October, Luna Park will officially celebrate its 90th birthday, and everyone is invited!
Have fun with unlimited rides; enjoy 1930s entertainment including jugglers, clowns and dancers; and watch a screening of Dream Ride, a short film created by Bradfield College students to mark the milestone. Each guest will also receive a complimentary souvenir postcard featuring an Ashley Taylor artwork to take home.

The Coastal Environment Centre is hosting several exciting Kids on the Coast workshops which offer children a way to learn about their natural environment through a range of fun activities. Each day has a different theme: Bug Bonanza will see children getting up close with insects, arachnids and molluscs; Build it, Fly it, Float allows young minds to get creative and invent their own floating and flying contraptions; while Junior Marine Biology turns students into ocean explorers for the day, learning how scientists study marine ecosystems.
On your bike

Looking for new places to discover on your bike? Council makes it easy with its community bike connections map, available in the ‘Things to do’ section of their website. With maps of areas including North Narrabeen and North Avalon, the site shows whether the tracks are sealed or unsealed roads and highlights features on the way including shops and cafes. The Narrabeen Lagoon Trail is a great one for families to ride, with plenty of cafes and playgrounds on the 8km loop to keep the children happy. Those looking for a little more adventure can try the BMX track at JJ Melbourne Hills Memorial reserve in Terrey Hills. It’s a great place to take a picnic, soak in the sun, and ride.
Imagination in the city

Catch a bus or ferry into the city and visit the Imagination Station at Darling Harbour. This free event runs from 2 to 5 October and will have the children enjoying rocket making, cosmic painting and astronaut fun. There will be four days of interactive workshops, craft stations and a space-themed art cube station.
Russ the Story Bus will also be there – a travelling library from the Sydney’s Writer’s Festival. Inside the bus are shelves lined with books waiting to be explored. There will also be special story time sessions with authors and illustrators.
Take a rockpool dip

With the weather getting warmer, it’s a great time to head to your local rockpool for a dip. The Beaches have some of the cleanest rockpools around with stunning views. The Mona Vale ocean pools are located at the northern end of Mona Vale Beach, with the smaller pool great for young kids and toddlers. At low tide, you may even find some little sea creatures!
Avalon Beach has two rockpools, located at both the south and north end, and you’ll find other rockpools at Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Bilgola Beach and Newport Beach. Spend a day at one or take a few days to visit them all!
