A new scenic path sees Newport Beach and The Serpertine, Bilgola Beach better connected. The shared path, which can be found adjacent to Barrenjoey Road, is set to provide a safe connection away from the road. It also now forms part of the Northern Beaches Coastal Walk, with features such as lookout points and native landscaping.

The new strip forms part of Northern Beaches Council’s development of a broader Coastal Walk to encourage active transport, outdoor recreation and stronger community connections.

Mayor Sue Heins welcomed the opening of the new link.

“The new pathway provides a safer and more accessible route for walkers, bike riders and people with mobility limitations, while showcasing the incredible beauty of our coastline,” Mayor Heins said.

“By making it easier for people to choose walking or cycling over driving, we’re supporting healthier lifestyles, reducing our environmental footprint and creating stronger connections between our coastal communities.”

The link has been designed using durable, low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant materials, including on-grade concrete, fibre-reinforced decking, concrete piers and stainless-steel handrails and balustrades with timber accents to complement the natural landscape.

The scenic path builds on the completed Coast Walk and bicycle network between Manly and Newport.
