Let me entertain you! Groove along to live performances at the Northern Beaches Music Festival

Northern Beaches Music Festival returns to Narrabeen on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, with a stellar line up of musicians to entertain all the family.

Narrabeen will come alive to the sound of music with multiple acts on three stages at the Tramshed Community Arts Centre.

“They have three 100-person halls that we’re taking over,” says the festival’s executive producer Paul Robertson. “We have 40 acts on three stages over two days. We set it up cabaret style with tables and chairs and people can bring their own food and drink, making it an affordable and enjoyable night of live entertainment.”

The weatherproof indoor stages will host the best of local and national artists featuring multi-genre world contemporary folk ranging from traditional to original contemporary, blues to bluegrass, gypsy jazz swing to the dancing fun of Irish jig and zydeco swing.

The Torraca, Berry and Tramshed stages will welcome artists such as ARIA-nominated singer-songwriter Luke Escombe, jazz cabaret artist Lady Cool, traditional Irish music from The Butter Trackers, Carter Mullins and his band of Northern Beaches cowpunkers, London’s Pump & Pyro and US singer songwriter George Mann.

“About 50% of our line-up is from the Northern Beaches,” Paul says. “We try and keep it that way, because we are the Northern Beaches Music Festival.”

Attendees are encouraged to support local businesses and choose from a wide variety of restaurants and enjoy burgers, fish and chips, Lebanese kebabs, Spanish tapas, Japanese, Mexican, Thai, Indian and more.

“We negotiated with local restaurants for their support, and a whole cluster of them offer 10% to a festival wristband wearer,” says Paul. “We did that last year and the restaurants were really happy with the result.

The festival is 100% run by volunteers and the organisers would love to hear from anyone who can help at the festival. Assistance is needed with various tasks such as working on the gate, helping with administration, waste management, musical instrument storage and retrieval, and help with compering on stage.

A four-hour volunteering shift will be rewarded with a day’s free entry. Two four-hour shifts will see you receive a free weekend pass. If you’ve got the skills and would like to be involved, visit the festival website.

The festival doesn’t happen without some wonderful sponsors and volunteers which, on this occasion, include Torraca Enterprises, Northern Beaches Council, Ffwoin Multimedia, Radio Northern Beaches (transmitting live to air from the event), The Shack, Humph Hall, The Manly Fig and Songs on Stage.

Tickets cost $70 for a Saturday pass, $50 for a Sunday pass, or $100 for a weekend pass. Children under 12 are free.
