The Willoughby-Lane Cove Unit of the NSW SES Metro Zone has been awarded the Commissioner’s Certificate of Recognition for their exceptional contribution to the community during recent flooding events in NSW. This recognition was received at the last NSW SES Metro Zone awards ceremony held in March.
These local volunteers were deployed right across NSW, including Greater Sydney, Menindee, Broken Hill, Wentworth, and Barham. The volunteers are heroes among us, with nine of them receiving long service awards, ranging from ten years to forty years, for a combined total of 145 years of service to the community.
Four volunteers received the Commissioner’s Unit Citation for their contribution during the 2019/2020 bushfire response.
Unit Commander Jason Li received the Commissioner’s Commendation for Service. The awards celebrate the exceptional and selfless service, courage, and long-standing dedication of the volunteers in serving the community.
