The Northern Beaches Gambling Reform Alliance (Alliance) is hosting a forum on 30 April in Warriewood to discuss gambling harm and a way forward to reform.
The newly formed Alliance is a result of a proposal in 2024 by Northern Beaches Greens councillor Kristyn Glanville to hold a round table about gambling harm. The event was hosted by council in December 2024 and was attended by a diverse range of people from the community, including community organisations and people with lived experience of gambling harm. Cr Glanville worked with some of those who attended which led to the creation of the Alliance.
The Alliance believes that gambling is not just a private issue and that it affects families, relationships, and mental health.
The forum will bring together lived experience, frontline insight, and public conversation around one of the most serious but often overlooked cause of harm in Australia.
The evening will also include a panel discussion with guest speakers and local MPs, exploring what reform could look like and how the community can be part of the solution.
Guest speakers include Rev Jon Owen, Pastor and CEO, Wayside Chapel, and Andy & Scrubby’s Big WAG (Walk Against Gambling) who is walking 15,000 kilometres around Australia to raise awareness for problem gambling and mental health.
The forum will take place on 30 April from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Pittwater Uniting Church, 10 Jubilee Avenue, Warriewood. Register using the QR code in the above image.
