Work has officially begun on Manly Warringah Gymnastic Club’s Centre of Excellence at the former North Manly Bowling Club site with demolition underway and expected to be completed by mid-October.
The main construction phase is scheduled to begin in February 2026, with the project expected to be completed by December 2026. The new Centre of Excellence will officially open to the public in early 2027.
This state-of-the-art facility will not only serve as a high-performance training hub for elite gymnasts — including athletes striving towards future Olympic Games — but also as a welcoming community space designed to get people of all ages moving.
Manly Warringah Gymnastics Club already supports a diverse membership base ranging from 6 months to 80 years old, and the new Centre will expand opportunities for everyone, from children learning their first cartwheel to athletes preparing for international competition.
“This project has been years in the making, and to see demolition works begin is incredibly exciting for our club and our community,” said CEO David Krantz. “This Centre will transform the way people engage with movement — from toddlers taking their first steps in the gym to Olympians preparing for the world stage.”
“The Centre of Excellence is more than just a gymnastics facility; it’s a community hub,” said chairperson Amanda Wyzenbeek “Our members already range in age from six months to 80 years old, and this Centre will ensure that every person, no matter their age or ability, has the opportunity to be active, connected, and inspired.”
