The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize has unveiled its 99 finalists, drawn from a record 1,934 entries submitted by female artists from every state and territory across the nation.

The prestigious art award – Australia’s highest-value prize for women – offers a total prize pool of $58,000. Winners will be announced at the Opening Night on Friday 20 June, held at the Centenary Centre at Ravenswood School for Girls, Gordon. Prizes include $35,000 for the Professional Artist category, and $7,500 each for the Emerging and Indigenous Emerging categories, supported by The Reed Family Foundation and the Guardian and Scarborough Foundation. The $2,000 People’s Choice Award and a new set of six Highly Commended Awards of $1,000 each will also be presented.

“This year, the judging panel was overwhelmed by the high quality of artworks submitted for the Art Prize, making our selection process all the more difficult,” said Patron and judge Jade Oakley. “I’m extremely proud to see the continued growth and popularity of the Prize, and the opportunities it affords professional, emerging and Indigenous women artists across the country.”

The Exhibition of Finalists will run from 21 June to 6 July, open Thursdays to Sundays, 10 am to 4 pm, with free public entry. Tickets for the Opening Night on 20 June include access to the exhibition and a culinary showcase from TWG Executive Chef Tony Panetta, featuring First Nations ingredients and wines from TWG’s ‘Women in Wine’ collection. Artworks will also be available for sale online, with a virtual tour accessible via ravenswoodartprize.com.au
