Three locations across the peninsula will soon receive new names as Northern Beaches council gains support from the community.

It is understood Mayor Michael Reagan said the community has spoken in support for naming these locations in accordance with council’s Naming our Reserves, Facilities and Roads Policy.

The first location set to be named is the enclosed off-leash dog area at the northern end of Forestville War Memorial Playing Fields.

The community has supported it to be named Purple Poppy Park to recognise and commemorate the sacrifice animals made in wartime.

The second location is the sandstone viewing area above the South Curl Curl Rockpool on Carrington Parade which is set to be named the Brian Green Lookout.

Mr Green is recognised for the contribution he made to the community as Mayor/President of Warringah council and during his tenure in local government.

The final location presently known as the Undercliff Reserve at the southern end of Freshwater Beach is set to be renamed to Irene Crump Reserve to honour the late local for her contribution to securing public ownership of the reserve and saving it from private development.
