The Local Government Election results were released on 1 October 2024, with Northern Beaches team of 15 councillors announced.
Eight new councillors will join seven who were reelected to represent the community on Council for the next four years.
Your Northern Beaches Independent Team, who previously held four positions on Council, scored seven seats across the five wards: Sue Heins and Jody Williams (Frenchs Forest), Joeline Hackman and Nicholas Beaugeard (Curl Curl), Sarah Grattan (Manly), Rowie Dillon (Pittwater) and Ruth Robins (Narrabeen).
Sue Heins previously told PL she would be nominating as mayor, and Good For Manly’s Candy Bingham (reelected in Manly) was believed to have her eye on the deputy mayor spot.
Greens candidates Kristyn Glanville (Curl Curl) and Miranda Korzy (Pittwater) were reelected and will be joined by newcomers Ethan Hrnjak (Frenchs Forest) and Bonnie Harvey (Manly) in what Ms Glanville called a ‘royal flush’ for the Greens.
Vincent De Luca, the longest-serving Independent councillor, was reelected in Narrabeen along with fellow Independent Robert Giltenan (who previously served on Warringah Council).
Mandeep ‘Sunny’ Singh, owner of 4 Knots cafes in Narrabeen, Newport and Brookvale, was an un-endorsed Liberal runner in Pittwater and secured a seat as the only Liberal representative on Council.
The new mayor and deputy will be elected at an extra-ordinary meeting of the council on 8 October, and the inaugural meeting of the new council is scheduled for 15 October.
