Northern Beaches council has announced the outcome of public exhibition following the proposal of a new alcohol-free zone (AFZ) at Mona Vale.

Between 15 July and 14 August the AFZ proposal underwent a 30-day engagement program that required community consultation.

It is understood a total of 52 submissions were received with comments that canvassed a variety of issues both in support of, and against the proposal.

The key themes in the feedback appeared to be alcohol related antisocial behaviour, over-regulation and enforcement relating to the AFZ boundary.

Submissions received from the community regarding the proposed AFZ have since been considered by council, along with advice from Northern Beaches police area command.

It has been recommended that council establish the new AFZ from 1 October 2022 to 20 November 2025.
