National Tree Day is coming up on Sunday 26 July. What better way to celebrate than by planting trees yourself! A planting session will take place at Brightmore Reserve in Cremorne on the day.

This year’s planting aims to expand and protect adjoining bushland at Brightmore Reserve. By engaging in planting, volunteer planters will help create future habitat for native wildlife and threatened species.

The annual planting forms part of Australia’s largest community tree planting initiative known as Planet Ark’s National Tree Day.

North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker highlighted the significance of the planting.

“National Tree Day is a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with nature, contribute to the regeneration of our local bushland, and create lasting memories. It’s a great first step into environmental volunteering for children – families can return year after year to see the trees they planted grow alongside their children,” Mayor Baker said.

Everything will be provided on the day including tools, plants and guidance. There’s even a free sausage sizzle at the end to celebrate efforts after planting trees.
