The annual Crows Nest Fest which attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year is receiving a funding boost from North Sydney Council.

Council’s annual funding for October’s Crows Nest Fest is set to increase by $20,000, bringing their direct financial contribution to the festival to a total of $98,278.

The additional pot of funds is set to directly support the not-for-profit organisation behind the festival called Crows Nest Mainstreet Inc. due to rising costs including traffic management, security, staging and production. The funding is also intended to strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of the event.

Council will also waive fees associated with the hire, installation and storage of promotional banner poles to support promotion in the lead up to the festival.

Showcasing the likes of local businesses, community organisations, schools and performers, Crows Nest Fest is the largest street festival held in the North Sydney local government area.

Council said that community events like Crows Nest Fest will play a big role in strengthening social connection and supporting local businesses, with the area anticipated to significantly grow over the next decade.

Mayor Zoë Baker said the funding increase recognised the important role Crows Nest Fest plays in the community.

“Crows Nest is one of the fastest-growing centres in North Sydney, and this investment will help ensure the festival can keep growing alongside it, continuing to bring people together and support the local businesses that make the precinct so vibrant.”
