Australian surfers dominated on the podium at the Sydney Surf Pro at North Narrabeen, in the return of a world
series event to the Pittwater Peninsula.

Australia’s Isabella Nichols took out the top women’s prize, with fellow national Sally Fitzgibbons coming runner-up. The USA’s Cole Houshmand came first in the men’s, with Australian Jacob Wilcox second.

The winners overcame a huge field and an array of conditions, to claim victory in solid six-to-eight foot surf at North Narrabeen.

The World Surf League Challenger Series level was held on 17-24 May, with some of Australia’s best surfers taking part alongside international stars.

In the women’s final, Isabella came up against veteran Sally Fitzgibbons who had been the standout performer at North Narrabeen all week. With the solid surf and predominately left-handers on offer, Sally’s experience looked like it would give her an edge.

Isabella had other ideas, posting an 8.14 single wave. She now sits third on the rankings heading into the Ballito  Pro this July.

If you missed all the wave action this year, Northern Beaches Council has secured the Sydney Surf Pro for 2024.
