A man has been charged following reports of a firearm being discharged on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, which involved the property of Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, officers from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command responded to Pitt Road in North Curl Curl after a woman reported discovering what appeared to be a bullet hole in her garage door.

Upon inspecting the premises, police allegedly found evidence of additional shots fired through a wooden fence, as well as a bullet graze on an external wall of the house.

Following inquiries, police executed a crime scene warrant at the premises. During the search, police allegedly located a .22 calibre pistol, a muzzle-loaded double-barrel rifle, and a box of ammunition.

An 88-year-old man has been issued a Court Attendance Notice for five offences: firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property, two counts of possessing an unauthorised firearm, and two counts of failing to safely store a firearm.

Mr Reibold told Channel Nine that the incident was “accidental” and that there “wasn’t anything sinister” involved.

Police will allege in court that the man was not licensed to possess the firearms or ammunition.

The man is scheduled to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.
