Northern Beaches Council is reminding the community to apply for digital Beach Parking Permits before the end of the month. Physical permit stickers are expiring on 31 August, with the new permits to be managed digitally.

More than 87,000 permits have already transitioned to the new system. Those who have not yet done so are encouraged to apply to ensure continued access to eligible beach and reserve car parks. Most applications can be approved online immediately through council’s vPermit platform.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins highlighted that additional assistance is available throughout the remainder of the month.

“If you need additional assistance, our incredible Customer Service team is on hand – over the phone, via email or at our three Customer Service Centres,” Mayor Heins said.

“And we’ve extended hours at Dee Why Customer Service Centre, 9am to 1pm on Saturdays through to the end of August.”

The new permit system means permits are directly linked to a vehicle’s registration number. Ratepayers accessing their two free permits will only need to apply once every three years, unless their circumstances change.

Council has said that the move to digital permits is part of a broader commitment to providing more efficient services while reducing administrative costs, plastic waste and permit misuse.
