Berrys Bay will no longer be utilised as a construction site in the Western Harbour Tunnel’s construction following refinements to the megaproject’s methodology.

The news comes after Berrys Bay was believed to be trapped under a license deal signed by a former Labor Government, with looming threats of marina over-development.

Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson made the announcement on Thursday 1 December saying it was big news for Waverton and the neighbouring community.

“When I was elected, I pursued and achieved the buy-out of that contract and started the process to transform this historic though dilapidated site into a community-centric harbourside precinct,” said Ms Wilson.

“Our NSW Liberal Government is known for major infrastructure delivery – with a record $112 billion pipeline underway.”

“But we are also committed to creating and enhancing public open and green spaces, particularly in areas impacted by construction works.”

Ms Wilson said she is excited by the vision the community has shaped for Berrys Bay to become an iconic waterside park and public space.
