With trial HSC exams well underway across schools on the North Shore and Northern Beaches, Year 12 students are being encouraged to take advantage of study spaces at their local council libraries.

Forestville Library offers members access to the premises 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members must complete an induction session at the library, covering the terms and conditions of access, safety and security and information on how to enter the library before access is granted. Forestville was one of the first libraries to offer this service, which has been running for two years.

Manly Library is currently undergoing a 24/7 community trial for members over 16, which will run until November. It offers after-hours access from 6am Sundays to 5pm Fridays for those who complete an on-site induction, and has two quiet study pods which can be booked.

In the lead up to the HSC exams which begin on 16 October, Willoughby City Council will offer the creator space as an exclusive ‘quite room’ for HCS students at Chatswood Library, from 29 September to 10 October. The library will also be holding three Friday night ‘lock-ins’ for Year 12 students across October, running from 6pm to 9pm.
