‘Starr’s Planetarium’ is a fantastic show that will tell stories from across Australia and immerse all visitors in the ancestral cosmovision, laws of nature, traditions, history, and spirituality.

Aimed at children aged six to 12 or from Kindergarten to Year 6, this is an excellent opportunity to learn and celebrate NAIDOC week on 5 July.

Family story time, painting, and craft workshops are some of the many activities the libraries have planned (Brookvale, Dee Why, Forestville, Mona Vale).

Peg doll painting workshop: Children from 8 to 12 years old will have the opportunity to bring their favourite book characters or heroes to life at the peg doll painting workshop. Cost: $5.

Bookmark contest: prizes to be won and the best designs will be distributed in Northern Beaches libraries. Grab an entry form from any of the libraries. Entries close 16 July.

Teddy bear sleepover: There is a special storytime for the little ones in the family where they can bring their teddy bear or favourite toy to hear stories and sing songs before good night’s farewell to the toys.

Join other explorers and qualified education staff in a local adventure at the Coastal Environment Centre, and use ‘whatever you can find’ to make brilliant art creations.

TRAVEL IN TIME WITH THIS FOSSIL EXPLORATION

Is your child fascinated by dinosaurs, ancient creatures, or fossils? Join other junior geologists in this wild exploration of the Northern Beaches to discover the secrets hidden in the local rocks.

This adventure will unleash their imagination, creativity and the ability to uncover clues about the lost world of dinosaurs and ancient forests that dominated our lands once upon a time.

The day will include a coastal walk across to Turrimetta Beach, where the Coastal Environment Centre experts will help the explorers with discovery and identification and the opportunity to create their very own fossil to take home.
