Northern Beaches Council is seeking community feedback on the temporary trial of the Streets as shared space in Avalon Beach. The survey will close on 31 May, although the six-month trial period will end in September 2023.
As part of the key action in the My Place – Avalon Beach Plan, the temporary trial was funded through the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Streets as Shared Spaces program.
The test aims to assess the ideas for permanent improvements to local streets, paths, and public spaces. Some of the changes include widening footpaths, enhancing outdoor dining areas, moving pedestrian crossings, installing planter boxes, and installing structures to charge phones while enjoying a treat from local cafes.
The project looks to create an easy and enjoyable access to Avalon Beach, creating a safer space for people to hang out, shop and relax.
To have your say on these changes, visit the Northern Beaches Council website here and leave your feedback by completing the survey by 31 May 2023.
