A second teenager has been charged in relation to a brawl at a family event in Northbridge last weekend.
At roughly 7:30pm on a Saturady 10 May, police from the North Shore Area Command responded to reports of a brawl at Northbridge Oval along Sailors Bay Road in Northbridge. Officers were told a 17-year-old boy had been assaulted and following a foot pursuit, two males – aged 15 and 16 – were arrested. The older boy is alleged to have resisted arrest, assaulting officers.
The 17-year-old had to be taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
The two younger teens were taken Chatswood Police Station, where the older of the two was charged with common assault, affray, behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school, armed with intent commit indictable offence, two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, assault police officer during public disorder.
Following inquiries, the second boy was re-arrested at 2:00pm on Thursday 15 May. Both boys were granted conditional bail and are set to appear at a children’s court on 3 June.
