Discover local talent at the Northern Beaches Art Society’s Spectrum exhibition.
If you are passionate about art and interested in supporting local talent, come along to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Northern Beaches Art Society. It will take you to explore the most exquisite art pieces on the Northern Beaches.
The Northern Beaches Art Society is proud to present Spectrum, its premier awards and art exhibition that promise to open the mind of all visitors with a wide range of styles and artistic mediums.
This year’s celebration will delight attendees with the pieces of talented local artists, including oil paintings, watercolours, acrylics, pastels, and drawings. Entry to enjoy the exhibition is free. Art enthusiasts and curious alike are welcome. Everyone can immerse themselves in the art world from 14 to 25 June at The Creative Space in Curl Curl.
President of the Art Society, Heather Macorison, said the society was formed to create a fellowship of local artists.
“The pursuit of fine art is largely a solitary pursuit. Our society seeks an association that provides fellowship for local artists to share and foster their endeavours. And we have monthly ‘plein air’ mornings, workshops, and two exhibitions yearly.
“One of our exhibitions is juried. Northern Beaches Council has donated the first prize of $500 for our upcoming juried exhibition. Each artist can exhibit up to five paintings, and we usually exhibit around 80 paintings in various media. The mix is very eclectic, and it is safe to say there is something for everyone!” she said.

For this anniversary exhibition, all the paintings on display are by members of the society, and the subjects of their work include landscapes, seascapes, figurative, still life, abstracts, and some surprises.
All paintings are for sale, allowing everyone to continue to enjoy and own their favourite piece as long as they want. A commission of 25 per cent of the sales price is taken to assist with the running costs of the society, and all the exhibitors assist with the running of these events by being on duty during the exhibition hours.
The awards will be presented on opening night, 14 June. During the evening, all attendees can enjoy the art on display and discuss the vast array of works covering many subjects while drinks are served.
For this exciting event, artists will compete for three major awards, showcasing their talents for all to see. Visitors can vote for their favourite painting for the People’s Choice Award.
The artist who gains the most votes will win a prize at the end of the exhibition.
Visitors can also purchase raffle tickets to win a beautiful oil painting of boats on Pittwater. The winner of the raffle will be drawn at the end of the exposition, and the proceeds from the raffle will go towards the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Take the chance to attend the awards presentation on opening night and enjoy local art and refreshing drinks. This event’s a perfect opportunity to socialise and view the impressive artworks created by talented local artists.
“I feel that this initiative makes for a more inclusive society which may also help foster a wider interest in art. We invite anyone on an artistic journey to join us to be part of our supportive community, learn new skills and have an opportunity to exhibit their work,” Ms Macorison said.
