Now in its 33rd year, the annual Northern Beaches Ocean Festival returns for a week of fun and learning across the Beaches. Under the theme Where Protection Brings Life, an event line-up focused on conservation, science, education and connection is in store.
The festival is a celebration of the marine environment of the Beaches, inclusive of five marine protected areas, and will further involve environmental activations.
View the winners of the 2026 Underwater Photography Competition in exhibition, learn about ocean conservation, undertake a rockpool discovery tour, or join a living seawalls tour. These are just a few of the diverse range of events on across the week.
Mayor Sue Heins said the festival aims to raise awareness of life below the water and our deep connection with the ocean.
“Our community love the ocean. It’s at the heart of life on the Northern Beaches and it is one of the many reasons we live here.
“This annual event focuses on marine conservation issues, highlights local environmental initiatives, showcases ocean research and inspires positive action to protect our coastal and marine ecosystems.
“Through film, science, education and community conversations, the festival encourages us all to play a role in caring for coastal and marine ecosystems and is open to everyone.” Mayor Heins said.
