A man, 24, has been charged after two cyclists were seriously injured in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on 4 June.
The man was charged with negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle.
The incident occurred at about 6am on 4 June 2024; emergency services were called to Forest Way, Belrose, after reports of a crash involving two cyclists and a car.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated both cyclists.
One cyclist – a 47-year-old man – was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
The other cyclist – a 56-year-old man – was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
A crime scene was established, which was forensically examined by police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The driver – a 24-year-old man – was uninjured and underwent mandatory testing at a hospital before he was taken to Manly Police Station.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on 24 July 2024.
