Kirribillli’s Claire Engkaninan Low has won the Recycled/Reused Materials Award and $1,000 in prize money in the annual Remagine Art Prize.

Hornsby Shire Council runs the prize in partnership with Hornsby Art Society, and this year’s theme was ‘Wasteland or Wonderland’.

This competition challenges artists to create works in response to the waste and over-consumption crisis. This year’s theme referred to the daily decisions people make about how much waste they create.

Claire won the Recycled/Reused Materials Award for her painting on a discarded skateboard, All Monsters Are Real.

The Remagine Art Prize 2023 winner was Canberra glass artist Jennifer Kemarre Martiniello, who took out the first prize of $5,000 for her sculpture, Not Wasted, made from recycled television screens.

The panel of judges for 2023 included the director of the Mosman Art Gallery, John Cheeseman, Australian contemporary artist Leila Jeffreys and curator Nick Vickers.
