International Kids Festival bringing creative entertainment to the Opera House these school holidays
On 26 September the Sydney Opera House launches the inaugural Wild Things International Kids Festival for ages 0 to 14. Enjoy two weeks of performances, workshops and play activities by artists from Australia and across the world.
Free large-scale interactive installations and performances will take over the Forecourt as the space becomes a vibrant playground where families can walk among the immersive activations. Inside the Opera House there will be an array of performances including two shows for babies and nine Australian premieres, priced at $49 and under.
Tamara Harrison, head of children, families and creative learning at Sydney Opera House says: “Never before has Australia seen this scale and variety of international performances, play spaces and workshops for kids and their families in one place.”

This exciting outdoor circus performance from Taiwan will see performers tumble, balance, handstand, flip, juggle, jump and build human pyramids while stacking five hollow cubes into an ever-changing series of shapes and structures. This 30-minute show, presented by Focasa Circus, is suitable for all ages.
Iwagumi Air Scape
26 September to 11 October

All ages will enjoy this larger-than-life wild rock formation by ENESS. By day, visitors can wander through immense air-filled inflatables that appear as thousands of tonnes of rock, and at night, it lights up. As visitors move through the installation, the sounds of native birds, frogs and mountain streams will be heard.
Living Sculptures
2 to 6 October

A fusion of First Nations dance, storytelling and contemporary circus brings an ancient Dreamtime story to life in Living Sculptures: How the birds got their colours. This 30-minute outdoor performance reimagines the story of how the birds came to wear their vibrant colours and suits all ages. It is created by Queesnland’s ARC Circus in collaboration with the Yugambeh Aboriginal Dancers.
Les moutons
7 to 11 October

Meaning ‘the sheep’ in French, Les moutons is an all-ages 30-minute performance by Canadian CORPUS productions blending dance, theatre and visual comedy. It looks at the mischief created when three sheep, a ram and a shepherd go about their daily routines.
Cookies, Ann, Cream
8 to 9 October
Centre for Creativity | $31+
Through puppetry, shadow play and constellations of light projected across a white sky, the stage turns into a living universe as Ann searches for meteorites in Antarctica. Suitable for ages 10 years and over, this show is presented by Korean based Trunk Theatre Project.
