A new plan to manage bush fire risk on the Northern Beaches is now open for public exhibition and feedback until 17 July.

The program recognises the collective responsibility of fire authorities, landowners, land managers, planning authorities, local councils, and the community in preparing for bushfires.

Prepared by the Rural Fire Service and the local Bush Fire Management Committee, the plan utilises advanced fire behaviour modelling to map bush fire risk across the Northern Beaches. It outlines strategies to mitigate fire impact in the most vulnerable areas over the next five years and highlights the actions the community can take to ensure their families and properties are prepared.

The draft is available for viewing on the Rural Fire Service website, and printed copies can be obtained at customer service centres in Avalon, Mona Vale, Dee Why, and Manly.

Residents can complete a short survey on the plan or send their comments to the Rural Fire Service here.
