If you have an hour to spare once a week, the Australian Red Cross needs telecross volunteers to make a phone call to check up on the wellbeing of isolated or elderly people.
Telecross volunteers are rostered to make up to 20 brief phone calls in an hour, between 8am and 9am, on a day of your choosing.
The calls support people to live independently in their own homes, providing peace of mind and reassurance.
Volunteers log and keep records of all the calls made and the confidentiality of the client is always maintained.
