North Sydney Council resolved to proceed with the West Street Cycleway project, with plans to tender and start construction in May.

The project includes a 100 metre off-road separated bi-directional cycleway between Church St and Ridge St, and a continuous footpath, as well as a pedestrian and bicycle crossing, at the intersection of Church St and West St to improve the pedestrian experience.

The final detailed design for the project will be subject to the approval of Council’s Traffic Committee.

The upgrade will open more opportunities for people of all ages to cycle and walk between Cammeray with North Sydney and complete a section of Priority Route 1: Sydney Harbour Bridge Cycleway to West Street identified in the North Sydney Integrated Cycling Strategy.

The community feedback received will be considered in the final design to create a footpath and a cycleway that meets the needs of people living, working, and travelling in the area.
