Destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and large swells are forecast to impact the Northern Beaches from this afternoon, as an East Coast Low develops off the coast. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued Flood Watch, marine wind, and hazardous surf warnings, with potential for flash flooding and coastal erosion over the coming days.
The NSW SES is urging residents to take precautions: park vehicles under secure cover, tie down loose outdoor items, and avoid non-essential travel. “Never drive through floodwaters,” is the key advice from authorities. For help with flooding, roof damage or fallen trees, call SES on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000).
Sandbag collection points are open at Denzil Joyce Oval, Balgowlah Golf Club, and North Narrabeen Surf Club. Lagoon entrances at Narrabeen are currently open, while Manly, Curl Curl, and Dee Why lagoons are being closely monitored.
Several parks and coastal trails have been closed due to the risk of falling trees and erosion, including Manly Dam, the Manly Scenic Walkway and Long Reef Boardwalk.
Residents are encouraged to download the Hazards Near Me app or check the Northern Beaches Emergency Dashboard for live updates and alerts.
