Dr Melina Georgousakis is being celebrated as Willoughby’s Local Woman of the Year in recognition of the significant support she has given to women and the Willoughby community.
Member for Willoughby Tim James congratulated Dr Georgousakis, acknowledging her tireless work.
“We recognise her efforts to create stronger opportunities for women and ensure they are well supported and flourish in their careers,” Mr James said.
A local of the suburb of Willoughby, Dr Georgousakis has been awarded for her work through the Franklin Women organisation she founded in 2014 to support women to gain professional development, training and mentoring opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Franklin Women are dedicated to ongoing support within the health and medical research ecosystem showcasing the talent and diversity of women and importantly the impact of their work.
The Local Woman of the Year Awards was celebrated this 2023 as part of the International Women’s Day commemorations on March 8.
